The joint AMBC and MABC business directions event was held at the Shangri La hotel late 2006 and had over 300 people attend.

National President Wee Keat Chan, Victorian Vice President Trevor Haines and long time council member David Yew were among leading Aussie business people and academics in KL specifically for the event.

Prime Minister Howard's speech was delivered without notes and was superb, speaking about the strong relationship and co-operation levels between the two governments particularly on security and trade, and was extremely well received. The other VIP level speakers such as delivered excellent, information packed and strategically oriented keynote addresses.

The 'business VIP group' from Australia to attend the joint event were kindly hosted by MIDA to a pre Conference meeting on the day prior which was attended by 25 leading Aussie companies.

Peter Kane, Senior Trade Commissioner in KL opened up his home for a pre-conference cocktsail party which had 70 people attend a fantastic night of networking prior to the formal activities the next day.

We must thank all involved from MABC, DFAT, Austrade and MIDA for their fantastic support over the period of the program, and wish them well for a successful and prosperous 2007 in all respects.
