Brisbane – Australian Government’s Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) negotiations

Brisbane, Monday 6thFebruary 2012 - As part of the Australian Government’s ongoing public consultation process on the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) negotiations, AMBCQ members are invited to meet with members of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's TPP negotiating team in Brisbane.  AMBCQ members who cannot make it but who wish to provide input can do so via the AMBCQ executive committee.

This is an important opportunity to provide DFAT with input and feedback as in November 2011 TPP Leaders announced the broad outlines of the TPP and committed to conclude the agreement as rapidly as possible. Current TPP member countries are Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Chile, Malaysia, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore United States and Vietnam. DFAT is also currently seeking submissions from stakeholders about Canada, Japan and Mexico’s possible involvement in the TPP.

TPP negotiators will provide an update on progress to date, an overview of Australian negotiating positions in key areas, as well as information about the negotiations into the future. They will also be happy to take questions on specific sectoral interests and on the progress of other FTA negotiations more generally.
